Time and Talents to Others

Outreach Projects

We have several ministries that include many in our surrounding communities.

Sisters Into Soup is a recently formed ministry that meets once a month to make soup. It meets the 3rd Thursday of the month @ 9:00 am and makes a different soup each month. The soup is stored in the downstairs chest freezer in different sized containers. It is available to anyone experiencing a hardship. It could be sickness, recovering from surgery, shut ins, or just having a bad day. No questions asked. If you are interested in helping or have questions, please contact Pat Sorenson.

Foster Care "We Care Cases" are made available to Waushara County and Waupaca County Foster Care programs. These cases include a suitcase with a fleece blanket and small pillow, hygiene items appropriate for a certain age and gender, a few clothing items, and a snuggly toy, an older boy activity object, a journal or older age coloring book and pencils. The thought behind these cases is to make children who are whisked away from their parents and placed in a foster home feel loved and given a sense of self-worth. If you would like to donate, please contact Julie Attoe or Janine Christensen for more information.

Every Second Wednesday Meal - we host a meal where all are welcome for food and fellowship. Contact Paul or Lori Szczublewski, Steve or Pat Sorenson if you'd like to help.

Easter Saturday hosts an Easter Egg Hunt for all children of the community.

Each Thanksgiving we assemble boxes with Thanksgiving foods and more.

Last year St Johns lady quilters and friends assembled 105 baby Layettes. These layettes are given to mothers and babies who have nothing. They are delivered Nationally and Internationally by Lutheran World Relief.

Over 100 Quilts are created by our Quilters Group of men and women each year for Lutheran World Relief and other organizations. In April of 2022, 110 quilts were shipped to Poland for Ukrainian refugees.

School kits to Lutheran Relief  The Women of the ELCA annually collects and sends items to school children through Lutheran World Relief.

Spring of each year the congregation gets together before and after the service to tie fleece blankets for a local group in need. This year they will be enjoyed by local County Foster Care programs.

We do a semi-annual highway trash pickup.

We have a monthly "Noisy Offering" where the kids use pails to collect coins and paper $$. This offering is given to a local group each month such as food pantries, local veterans, mission backpack, etc.

In December our Youth shop for Christmas gifts for youth for our county. These gifts are donated to the Waushara County Community Christmas Project.

We provide donations to many charities throughout the neighboring counties and ELCA programs and health organizations.
